The Trojans season came crashing to an end on Sunday night as the Braintree Wamps knocked off the defending D1 champs ending their season and squashing their hopes of another championship.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd when Sr. Captain Joe Freiday (double) would score on a Connor Sullivan Sac fly. The Wamps immediately answered scoring 3 runs on 3 hits, a sac fly and HBP, added 1 run in the 5th, and 3 more in the 7th to put the game out of reach. The Trojans added a run in the 7th on a Jonathan Livolsi RBI single (scoring Cory Wasylow), but it was too little too late and the Wamps rolled to a 9-2 victory.
Jack Connolly suffers the loss for B-R, going seven innings and allowing seven runs – four earned – on nine hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts, but also hit three batters.
The Trojans offense was sluggish as they could only muster 4 hits.
The future definitely looks bright as the Trojans will return their co-Aces Notre Dame bound Jack Connolly and Umaine bound Andrew Noviello, both of whom have been a cog on the BR pitching staff for 3 years. Sophomores Chris Newman and Lefty Mike Manning will certainly fill the void left by Sr. Josh Monson.

Trojans fall 7-5 to the Tigers
The Trojans fell to the Newton North Tigers 7-5 on Friday afternoon at Rockland Stadium in the semi finals of the inaugural Super 8 Tournament, and will play in an elimination game on Sunday.
The Trojans fell in an early hole in the bottom of the 2nd as Newton North exploded for 4 runs on 5 hits a walk and a HBP. The Trojans would cut the deficit in half as Cory Wasylow (single) would score on a Jonathan Livolsi 2 run laser home run over the RF fence. Coach Kearney summonsed Senior Josh Monson from the bullpen, to start the 4th, as Noviellos day was done. The Trojans came to the plate in the top of the 6th, looking for answers, as Corey Dinunno (single), Andrew Noviello (single), and Joe Freiday (walk) would set the stage for Senior Adam Chase who would laser a long fly ball to left that would score Dinunno. Connor Sullivan would knock in Noviello on a single to left field and this game was tied!!! The bottom of the 7th inning wasn't so friendly to the Trojans as back to back errors to start the inning opened the doors for the Tigers who scored 2 runs on 0 hits and a sac fly to take a 6-4 lead! The Tigers added an important insurance run in the 8th and the Trojans were down to their last 3 outs! The baseball Gods tried their hardest to help the Trojans as Connor Sullivan would open the inning reaching 1b on a drop 3rd strike, followed by a Cory Wasylow walk bringing the tying run to the plate. A fly out and strike out would bring the top of the order to the plate in the form of Senior Tyler Carey, who would be grazed by a pitch and would trot to first loading the bases. Corey Dinunno would take an 0-1 pitch to right for an RBI single making the score 7-5, but thats the way it would end as a groundout 4-3 would end the game.
The Trojans will try to stave off elimination on Sunday at 6:00 at Campanelli Stadium as they face off against a talented young Braintree team

Connollys 11 K's powers Trojans over St Johns Prep
The Trojans defeated St. Johns Prep Eagles in the second round of the Inaugural MIAA Division 1A Super Eight tournament on Saturday afternoon at Campenelli Stadium in Brockton led by junior Notre Dame commit Jack Connolly in a thriller 3-1.
Connolly managed to strike out 11 batters while allowing only 4 hits, 2 BB's and 1 earned run, and also had 1 of the Trojans 5 hits! The Trojans opened up the scoring in the 1st inning as Sr. Tyler Carey (HBP) would scamper home from 2b on an Andrew Noviello base hit to left. The Eagles would stop the bleeding executing a perfect 6-4-3 double play to kill the early threat. Connolly would face the minimum in the bottom of the 1st inducing 2 fly balls and a K.
The Trojans added another run in the 6th as Cam Polson (pinch runner for Dinunno (HBP)) would score on a Connor Sullivan ground out advancing the Trojan lead to 2. The Trojans added another in the 8th as Andrew Noviello (double) would advance to 3rd on a groundout and score on an Eagle passed ball making it 3-0. The Eagles werent prepared to go home just yet as Sr. Mark Ethrington lasered a triple to left center that glanced just off the glove of Sr. Tyler Carey igniting the Prep bench and fans, and would score on a ground out to 1B.
Connolly gave up a walk to start the bottom of the 9th, bringing the tying run to the plate, but a drop 3rd strikem out throwem out, Connolly to Freiday to a diving Kyle Horseman, who aplied the tag, deflated the killed the Preps chances. A Prep routine fly ball to the sure handed CF tyler Carey and this game was over and the Trojans advance to round 3! The Trojans only mustered 5 hits on the day with 3 of them coming for Jr. Andrew Noviello as he went 3 for 3 with a huge 1st inning RBI. This was one of the more exciting games the Trojans have played at Campanelli stadium as it ranks right up there with both of last year thrillers against BC High (4-3 win) and Walpole (13-9 win with 0 errors for either team).
The Trojans will face off against the winner of the Newton North/Silver Lake game (3:00PM Sunday) at a date and time TBD.

BR Trounces Lincoln Sudbury 19-4
The Trojans opened Super 8 play with a bang, as they hosted the Lincoln Sudbury Warriors at Hank Pearson Field in the opening round play of the MIAA Division 1A "Super 8" tournament and rolled to a 19-4 run rule shortened 8 inning affair.
The Trojans jumped out to an early in the bottom of the 1st taking advantage of some shaky LS pitching as 3 walks, a hit batsman, and a Connor Sullivan FC RBI would put the Trojans on top 2-0. The Warriors would answer in the top of the 2nd scoring 1 run on 2 hits and a walk to make it 2-1. The trojans piled on 3 more runs on hits by Corey Dinunno, a 2 RBI double by Noviello, and he would score on an RBI single by Freiday to make it 5-1. The Trojans added a run in the 4th, but would break the game wide open in the bottom of the 6th scoring 5 runs as they batted around the order on hits by Joe Freiday, an RBI single by Connor Sullivan, a Jack Connolly RBI single, a Tyler Carey sac fly, and a Corey Dinunno RBI single, making it 11-1.
The Trojans would bat around the order again in the bottom of the 7th and would end the game in the 8th as they pounded the LS pitching staff scoring 19 runs on 16 hits as they took advantage of the 11 walks and 5 hit batsmen.
The story of the day is the fabulous 2 way performance by the Umaine commit Junior Andrew Noviello as he pithed 7 innings with 8 K's allowing only 3 walks and went 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 doubles a single and 5 RBI's. Other offensive standouts were jonathan Livolsi (3 for 5 with 2 doubles 1 RBI), Senior Captain Joe Freiday (3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's), as well as Connor Sullivan, Jack Connolly, and Corey Dinunno had multiple hits.
The Trojans will rest up tonight and get ready for the next round of play as they travel to Campanelli stadium to face off against St Johns Prep on Saturday at Noon!

Trojans finish season with a bang!
The Trojans finished the regular season with a bang as they made the trek(again) to Barnstable(again) to finish the 11 inning tie game that they started on Thursday, and walked away with the 7-4 win in 13 innings, finishing the regular season at 18-2, and are all but assured of a top 4 seeding in the inaugural MIAA Super 8 tournament that will be picked tonight at 6:00 at MIAA headquarters in Franklin.
When we left on Thursday around 7:30 PM the momentum was on the side of the Barnstable Red Raiders, as they had more scoring chances in the 6 scoreless innings since the 5th inning, and they had the meat of their order 3 4 5 coming to bat and we had 7 8 9 leading off the top of the 12th, so on paper it was advantage Barnstable.
The game resumed at 10:00 sharp with Jack Connolly at the plate and looking to start something and he lasered an 0-1 fastball to left, a Red Raider double play ball would quell the threat but opened the doors for Senior Pat Whooley who ripped a 0-2 fastball to straight away center for his first hit of the year, but would be stranded at 1st. Senior Josh Monson would return to the mound to try and start where he finished off, not allowing a run in 3 innings of relief, and he did not disapoint. Monson induced a ground out to 2B a strike out, and gave up a single to LF. With the Red Raiders grasping for answers they attempted to move the runner into scoring position via the steal which was thwarted by a perfect throw from Senior Captian Joe Freiday to Junior Andrew Noviello.... who applied the tag to kill the Red Raider threat.
To the 13th we go!!!!! Andrew Noviello led off with a walk, advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, which was followed by a Joe Freiday intentional walk. A Red Raider Balk would score Noviello and advance Freiday to 2nd and he would score on a Jonathan Livolsi single, making the score 6-4. A Jack Connolly RBI laser double would add an insurance run scoring Livolsi and the Trojans held on for the win!!
Jack Connolly led the offense going 4 for 6, a double and 2 RBI's, Jonathan Livolsi and Adam Chase had 3 hits each. Senior Josh Monson EARNED the W as he pitched 5 INN allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and allowing 0 ER. Pitching like he did under that amount of pressure was awesome!!!
The Trojans will anxiously await the Super 8 seedings and will hopefully be a top 4 seed and host a first round playoff game!

Trojans end regular season in a tie??
The Trojans made the trek to Barnstable on Friday fighting the beginning of the Memorial day weekend Cape traffic mess, and battled blow for blow agauinst the Red Raiders which ended in a 4-4 tie as the umps decide it was too dark to complete a full inning.
Andrew Noviello got the start and faced the minimum thru 2 innings. The Trojans struck in the top of the 3rd when Andrew Noviello (bunt single) would score on a Jonathan Livolsi RBI single and Adam Chase would be knocked in by a Jack Connolly RBI single. Livolsi would scamper home from 3rd on a Red Raider wild pitch and it was 3-0.
The Red raiders battled back scoring 2 runs on 3 hits to make it 3-2. The Trojans added another run in the 4th when Corey Dinunno (triple) would score on another Red Raider wild pitch. The Red Raiders came to the plate in the 5th looking for answers and tied it up at 4 scoring 2 runs on 1 hit, 1 walk and a Trojan error. The game remained tied thanks largely in part to several great defensive plays by both teams with 2 of them by Junior Kyle Horseman (1 at SS and 1 at 2B) in his first real action of the season, proving he "can play".
To EXTRA innings we go!! Junior Andrew Noviello got out of a bases loaded (1out) jam in the bottom of the 8th with a strike out and a hold your breath ground ball to 3rd that Livolsi routinely threw to 1st for the game saving out to retire the side. Noviello pitched 8 complete innings throwing 123 pitches, striking out 10 walking 2 and allowed 3 earned runs, and his day was done as Coach Kearney summonsed Senior Josh Monson from the bull pen.
Monson faced the minimum in the 9th, and left a Red Raider stranded at first in the 10th and stranded the winning run at 3rd in the 11th, as a Red Raider (2 out double) would advance to 3rd on a Trojan error but was held up (and probabaly would've scored to end the game). Monson struck out the last batter on a 3-2 curve ball and got out of the jam! The umps congregated and decided it was too dark to continue play.
Play will resume Monday at 10:00AM................

Connolly's 1 hitter powers Trojans over Durfee
The Trojans defeated the Durfee High Hilltoppers 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Hank Pearson Field, improving to 17-2, behind Notre Dame bound Junior Jack Connolly's 1 hitter.
Coach Kearney went to his Ace, as the Trojans looked for revenge against the teams May 9th shocking walkoff loss against Durfee, and Connolly did not disappoint. The Hilltoppers struck first in the 2nd inning as Connolly struggled with his command, uncharacteristacally walking 4 in the inning, to take a 2-0 lead. That lead was short lived though as the Trojans battled back to take a 3-2 lead on hits by Connor Sullivan (RBI single), Jonathan Livolsi (RBI double), and a Corey Dinunno (RBI single). The Trojans lumped on 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th, taking advantage of 3 walks and hits by Corey Dinunno (RBI double) and Joe Freiday (RBI single), making the score 6-2. Connolly faced the minimum in the 5th, 6th and 7th and the Trojans rolled to victory. Connolly allowed only 1 hit striking out 9 and allowed 6 walks. Durfee pitchers walked 8 Trojans leading me to believe the umpires strike zone was a little tighter than usual. Offensively the Trojans only mustered 6 hits with Corey Dinunno (2 for 3, double, 2 RBI's) and Jonathan Livolsi (2 for 2, double 1 RBI) leading the way. The Trojans will travel to Barnstable on Thursday to face the Red raiders in their final regular season game.

Trojans squeak out another win over DY
The Trojans improve to 16-2 after defeating the Dennis Yarmouth Dolphins 6-5 for the 2nd time in a weeks time, as they traveled to Red Wilson field in South Yarmouth.
The Dolphins certainly were not intimidated by the defending D1 Champs as they battled to the end in both "too close for comfort" games. The Trojans Sophomore Mike Manning got his first Varsity start and the lefty earned the win, as he pitched 6 1/3 innings striking out 6 and made some great defensive plays. The Trojans stranded 2 in the first but grabbed the lead in the 2nd as they rallied for 2 runs with 2 outs on hits by Jonathan Livolsi, an RBI laser double by Jack Connolly who would score from second on a close play at the plate on a Tyler Carey single. The Trojans added another run in the 3rd on a Connnor Sullivan RBI single, but the Dolphins erased the 3 run deficit in the bottom of the 3rd having their own 2 out rally as they scored 3 runs on 4 hits before Manning struck out the remaining Dolphin to stop the bleeding. The score remained tied until the 7th as the Trojans had the top of the oprder due up, and they did not dissappoint as Tyler Carey (single), Andrew Noviello ( RBI single), Joe Freiday (single), and a Cory Wasylow (RBI FC) who would score a very important 6th run on a few Dolphin miscues and the Trojans had a comfy 3 run lead at 6-3. The Dolphins did not crumble though as they came to bat in the bottom of the 7th looking for answers. After giving up 2 singles Manning's day was done as Coach Kearney summonsed Monson from the bullpen. A Josh Monson walk would put the tying run at 1st and the winning run at the plate as this game had the makings a la DURFEE part duex! An RBI fielders choice would cut the lead to 2 and an untimely Trojan error would keep the Dolphins hopes alive cutting the lead to 1, but the veteran righty Monson would end this game on a 4 pitch strike out and the Trojans survived winning 6-5!
Coach Kearney on the win "Mikey Manning coming up BIG today in his first Varsity start and Monson stepped up to secure the win!"
The Trojans were led offensively by Connor Sullivan (3 for 4, 1 RBI), Tyler Carey (2 for 2, 1 RBI), Joe Freiday (2 for 3).
The Trojans will host the Durfee High Hilltoppers on Wednesday as they seek revenge for the May 9th, 7-6 stunnning loss, as Durfee scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th to upset the then undefeated Trojans. Probable starter is Junior RHP Jack Connolly.

This headline was earily similair to the headline a year ago that read " Noviello...16......strikeouts...".
While the Junior RHP and UMaine commit Andrew Noviello didnt match his 16 K's from a year ago, this year he struck out 15 BATTERS in 6 innings as the Trojans run ruled the Hingham Harbormen 17-2, with Senior Josh Monson providing the walkoff hit in the form of a gap double to right center in his first plate appearance of the season.
It was a beautiful sunny day at Hank Pearson field and the Trojans were looking to rebound from a tough loss against Stoughton the day prior. The Trojans put this game away early in the 2nd inning scoring 7 runs on hits by Sullivan, Livolsi (double), Jack Connolly, Corey Dinunno, back to back doubles by Noviello and Freiday, and capped off with a Connor Sullivan double, and this game was over early. The Trojans added a run in the 3rd and 4th and 2 in the 5th on a sac fly by Adam Chase and a Jonathan Livolsi RBI single, and then the flood gates opened in the bottom of the 6th as the Trojans lumped on 6 more runs on hits by Noviello, Joe Freiday, Cory Wasylow (RBI double), Adam Chase (RBI double), and capped off with a Josh Monson (yes you are reading this correctly) smashed double to the gap in right center for the walkoff win!
While the Trojans bats were booming (19 hits with 7 doubles) the real story line of the day was Junior RHP Andrew Noviello's pitching performance as he struck out 15 batters in 6 innings giving up only 2 hits and walking 4. So just to recap 15 out of the 18 outs came via the K!!! OUTSTANDING JOB ANDREW!!
Defensively the Trojans performed flawlessly as they had no errors in the field. Multiple hitsmen for the Trojans were Joe freiday (2 for 3, 4RBI's), Jonathan Livolsi (2 for 2, 2 RBI's), Andrew Noviello (2 for 5, 2 RBI's), Connor Sullivan and Jack Connollly (both 2 for 4 with 1 RBI), Cory Wasylow (2 for 5, 1 RBI), and Corey Dinunno (2 for 3, 1 RBI).
By the numbers: The Trojans are batting over .350 as a team with a .570 slugging % and have 19 home runs, 12 triples, and 24 doubles through 17 games.
Coach Kearney on the win "Great bounce back game! Novi 15 K's and 19-hit attack...much needed win."
The Trojans improve to 15-2 on the season and will wrap up next week as they play at Dennis Yarmouth (Monday), host Durfee (Wednesday), and finish the regular season at Barnstable (Thursday).

Trojans suffer 2nd loss of the season to Stoughton
The Trojans suffered their 2nd loss of the season as they fell to the Stoughton Black Knights, 6-4, on a rainy Friday afternoon at Hank Pearson Field.
The Trojans fell behing in the 1st inning as the Black Knights came to play scoring 3 runs on only 2 hits to take a 3-0 lead. The score remained that way until the bottom of the 4th when the Trojans bats finally came to life as Tyler Carey lasered a no doubt home run to right field. After Corey Dinunno walked and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and with Joe Freiday at the plate representing the tying run, the Black Knights opted to intentionally walk Freiday and face Cory Wasylow......... MISTAKE......... Cory blasted his first home run of the season just out of reach of the center fielders grasp for a 3 run smash and the Trojans took a 4-3 lead. With the rain coming down we go to the top of the 6th inning with the Black Knights looking for answers, and they found the answers scoring 3 runs off of 3 hits with the dagger being a Black Knight 2 RBI triple to right field. The Trojans couldn't answer in the 6th or 7th and they fell to the Black Knights 6-4.
The Black Knights held the Trojans to only 3 hits, with 2 of them being home runs and they fall to 14-2 on the season.
The Trojans hope to rebound on Saturday as they host the Hingham Harbormen.

An undefeated season it will not be for the Trojans as they fall to the Durfee High Hilltoppers in a very exciting game that ended via the walk off.
The Trojans traveled to BMC Durfee High School after a 6 day layoff sporting an undefeated and very shiny 11-0 record to face off against 6-7 Hilltoppers on a cloudy Friday afternoon.
This game had the makings of a good ole fashion pitchers duel. The Trojans had a huge opportunity in the top of the 1st, but would strand the bases loaded with no outs. The game remained scoreless until the bottonm of the 4th when the Hilltoppers struck first scoring a run on 1 hit. The Trojans answered immediately knotting the score at 1 when Jonathan Livolsi would knock in Connor Sullivan. Cory Wasylow and Cam Polson would knock in 2 more runs putting the game "OUT OF REACH" at 6-1. The Hilltoppers had 2 chances of winning this game, slim and none!! They came to the plate in the 7th and were greeted by a Josh Monson K which was his 5th of the night. A few walks, a hit, and a reached on error later and Monsons day was done (94 pitches, 6 H's 4 BB's 5 K's). The Hilltoppers would tie the game on a laser double to center field, just out of the reach of a diving Tyler Carey, that cleared the bases!! 2 singles later and this game was over as the Hilltoppers jubilantly celebrated the very exciting walk off win. Slim won!
Jack Connolly Suffers the loss and falls to 5-1 on the season and will look for revenge tomorrow against the Hingham Harbormen. Coach Kearney on the loss "tough loss but not the end of the world and hopefully a character builder as to how we respond tomorrow." The Trojans fall to 11-1 on the season and hope to return to their winning ways on Saturday as they travel to Hingham for an 11:00 AM start.

The playing conditions were very tough as the wind was blowing hard and the murky/cloudy backdrop was not a "fielders friend" as both teams had trouble finiding the ball!
Coach Kearney on the win "Great offensive production today highlighted by several extra base hits and use off all fields. Novi pitched his usual solid game and the defense made some nice plays when they had to".
Multiple hitsmen for the Trojans include Corey Dinunno (3 for 4 and 3 runs scored ), Jonathan Livolsi (2 for 4 with 6 RBI's! a double and a triple), Joe Freiday (2 for 3 with a HR and 3 RBI's), and Andrew Noviello (2 for 4). The Trojans remain perfect at 7-0 and will face off against the Silver Lake Lakers at 2:00 on Thursday. Probable pitcher is Junior Jack Connolly.
The Trojans bats were booming in the 1st inning as they scored 5 runs on hits by Tyler Carey (bunt single), Corey Dinunno (single), an RBI by Cory Wasylow, followed by a bases clearing 3RBI double by Junior Jonathan Livolsi to make the score 5-0. The Whalers would answer in the top of the 3rd throwing up 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits to make it a game at 5-3. The Trojans added a run in the bottom of the frame on an Adam Chase RBI triple to center, and 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th on a single by Dinunno, followed by a Joe Freiday inside the park home run to put the game out of reach at 8-3. Connolly's complete game powers Trojans to 6-0
The Trojans defeated the Barnstable Red Raiders 7-3 on a chilly Thursday afternoon at Hank Pearson field behind a complete game 96 pitch performance by Junior Ace Jack Connolly to improve to a perfect 6-0 (2-0 in OCL).
In the 1st inning the Trojans found themselves in an unfamiliar position, trailing by 2 runs, as the Red Raiders took advantage of a Trojan error before Connolly struck out the side. The Trojans came to bat in the bottom of the 1st looking to answer, but came up short stranding 2. The Trojans exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd when a John Livolsi (double) would knock in Connor Sullivan, and a 2 RBI double by Cory Wasylow would knock in Livolsi and Tyler Carey to make the score 3-2. A Joe Freiday 2 run "no doubter" home run would increase the Trojan lead to 6-2 deflating the boisterous Red Raider bench. The Trojans added an insurance run in the bottom of the 3rd when John Livolsi would single home pinch runner Cam Polson to increase the Trojan lead to 7-2.
Connolly would settle things down retiring the next 12 Red Raiders in a row as his breaking ball dazzled the Red Raiders inducing ground balls and fly balls and K's. The Red Raiders would score a run in the 7th but it was too little too late and the Trojans rolled to a 7-3 victory.
The Trojans only mustered 6 hits and were led by Junior John Livolsi (2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI's) and Senior Captain Joe Freiday (2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI's)
Notre Dame bound Jack Connolly improves to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

Coach Kearney on the win "Good solid win over a good Barnstable team - Jack C settled down and only allowed 2 hits after 1st inning .... Six-run 2nd was awesome - key doubles by Lavolsi, Wasylow and then Freiday's huge 2-run HR settled things - Good to be 2-0 in OCL !"
The Trojans will travel to the beautiful and new Plymouth North High school as they will play 2 games in the Brad Martin Memorial tournament on Tuesday (New Bedford) and Thursday at time and opponent TBD, followed by a very tough match up on Saturday against the defending DII State Champion Hingham Harbormen.

Trojans down Indians 7-0 behind another STRONG outing by Monson
The Trojans improve to 5-0 (1-0 in OCL) as they downed the Dartmouth Indians 7-0 behind a 10 hit attack led by Junior Andrew Noviello (3hits) and a complete game pitching performance by Sr Josh Monson.
The Trojans bats remained hot entering Mondays contest at Dartmouth High. Andrew Noviello singled home Cory Wasylow in the first inning, and would score on a Joe Freiday RBI single to make the score 2-0 after 1. The Trojans added 2 more in the 2nd on hits by Tyler Carey (single) Cory Wasylow (RBI triple), and Andrew Noviello Sac fly to increase the lead to 4-0.
The Indians would threaten in the bottom of the 3rd with a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, when a routine ground ball would be fumbled by Noviello at SS for the E6, but no harm would come out of it as Monson would strike out the last batter of the inning stranding 2 Indians. Noviello would redeem himself on the very next pitch thrown to him as he lasered a "no doubter" home run to right center field to enhance the Trojan lead too 5-0. The Trojans added some insurance in the top of the 6th on hits by Adam Chase and Tyler Carey to put the game out of reach.
The Trojans were led at the plate by Jr Andrew Noviello (3 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI's), Tyler Carey (2 for 5 with an RBI), and Connor Sullivan (2 for 4 with a double).
Sr. Josh Monson improves to 2-0 with 2 complete games and a 0 ERA.
The Trojans will return to Hank Pearson Field on Thursday as they face off against OCL rival Barnstable.
By The Numbers:
Andrew Noviello is on fire to start the year batting .611 with a 1.167 slugging %
Connor Sullivan, Joe Freiday and Cory Wasylow have hit safely in all 5 games!

Trojans roll to 4-0 #Roadtosuper8
The Trojans improve to 4-0 on the season defeating the Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors 12-4 on Thursday afternoon, despite sloppy defense.
With the defending DI Champs struggling to fill their 20 game schedule, and "the powers that be" unable to secure a neutral site, the Trojans marched their way (a little over an hour) to Sudbury to face the #22 ranked Lincoln Sudbury Warriors, in non league play on Thursday afternoon.
With their ace, Junior RHP (Notre Dame Commit) Jack Connolly on the mound and coming off an 11-1 win over the Brockton Boxers on Wednesday, the Trojans entered the game with loads of confidence as their offense finally "showed up" to compliment their stellar pitching staff this season.
The Trojans opened up the first inning, smashing the ball, scoring 3 runs on a Tyler Carey single followed by back to back doubles by Corey Dinunno and Andrew Noviello, followed by an RBI single by Connor Sullivan. The Warriors would answer in the bottom of the first scoring a run on 1 hit and 2 errors before Connolly would strike out the remaining 3 Warriors to halt the threat. The Trojans added 2 more runs in the 3rd on a wild pitch (scoring Noviello), and an Adam Chase sac fly, to make the score 5-1. The Warriors added 3 runs in the 3rd (all unearned) on several Trojan errors to make the score 5-4. The Trojans would answer nicely in the form of a Joe Freiday 3 run home run to put the game out of reach at 8-4. The Trojans would pile on 4 more runs in the top of the 7th on singles by Paul Lafond, Tyler Carey, Corey Dinunno (Sac Fly), Andrew Noviello 2RBI double, and Corey Wasylow single to close the door and make the score to 12-4. After the 6th inning Jack Connolly's day was done, throwing 116 pitches, striking out 7, walking 5, and allowing 0 ER.
The Trojans rolled to victory winning by a score of 12-4, thanks largely in part of their offense, as their defense mimicked that of an 11 year old all star team, as they committed 7 errors!!
As the golf saying goes, they don't draw pictures on the scorecard, and the Trojans will "take it" as they improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season thanks largely in part to their 14 hit attack as they scored double digit runs for the 2nd game in a row.
The Trojans were led offensively by Tyler Carey (3 for 4), Andrew Noviello (3 for 5 with 4 RBI's), Connor Sullivan (2 for 4 with an RBI), Joe Freiday (2 for 3 with a 3 RBI home run), and Cory Wasylow (2 for 5 with an RBI).
The Trojans will travel to Dartmouth High on Monday to face the Indians as they enter OCL play.

An impressive 2 way performance from Andrew Noviello led Trojans toVictory!
To say Andrew "had a good game", or "played well", would be a huge understatement! Andrew came into Wednesdays contest batting .333 through 2 games, and sporting a 0 ERA. He would improve on both those stats following Wednesdays non league game against a talented Boxers lineup!
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Senior Co-Captain Corey Dinunno singled to CF, followed by a single by Junior Andrew Noviello and would both be knocked in by Senior Co-Captain Joe Freiday (double) who would later be knocked in by a Connor Sullivan single (who eventually scored), making the score 4-0. The Trojans added 2 more runs in the 2nd when Tyler Carey (single) would score on a no doubter BOMB 2 RBI Home Run by Andrew Noviello. The Trojans added a run in the 3rd when Cory Wasylow tripled over the CF head and would be knocked home by Connor Sullivan, and added 2 more in the 4th when Senior Kevin Newton (double) would score on a (Tyler Carey triple, who would be knocked in by Corey Dinunno, to advance the lead to 9-0.
Noviello would be pulled after the 4th inning allowing 4 hits, striking out 6, allowing 0 walks and 0 ER, and only throwing 44 total pitches (34 for strikes).
Junior RHP Branden Connelly pitched the 5th and 6th inning allowing only 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 3!
The Trojans added another run in the 6th when Kevin Newton (single) would score on an RBI single by Noviello, and another run in the 7th when Shaun Bushlow (single) would score on an RBI single by Paul Lafond.
Sophomore Chris Newman came in to close the door in the 7th and did not disappoint, only allowing 1 hit.
The Trojans bats exploded for 15 hits, led by Junior Andrew Noviello (3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI's), Tyler Carey (2 for 3 with a triple and 1 RBI), Kevin Newton (2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored), and Joe Freiday (2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's)
Coach Kearney on the win "GREAT offensive start today allowed Novi to limit to 4 innings and get Branden Connelly and Chris Newman their first Varsity experience, and able to get most of the roster involved in a positive way".
The Trojans improve to 3-0 on the season and travel to Lincoln Sudbury HS on Thursday to face their biggest test of the year as they face off against the #22 ranked Warriors.
Junior RHP Jack Connolly is expected to start.

Monson's Complete Game carries Trojans to Victory
6' 3" 210Lb Senior Josh Monson pitched a complete game, 99 pitch, 2hit, 10 K, 0 walk performance on Monday night to lead the defending DI State Champion Trojans to victory on a breezy/chilly victory on Monday night helping the Trojans improve to 2-0 early on this young season at Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford.
The temperature was supposed to be in the upper 50's, but the clouds rolled in and the wind was blowing and it felt like it was in the upper 30's.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when Junior Cory Wasylow would single home Junior Andrew Noviello.
The score would remain the same through 5 innings as both pitchers settled in for the makings of a pitchers duel. To the top of the 6th we go, and Senior Tyler Carey (HBP) would score from 2nd on a smash triple off the right center field fence, by Andrew Noviello, to increase the Trojan lead. Senior Co-Captain Joe Freiday would leg out an RBI double to right center, scoring Noviello, to increase the Trojan lead to 3-0. The Trojans added an RBI by Senior Co-Captain Cory Dinunno, scoring Connor Sullivan, to pad the lead by 4! The Whalers scraped an unearned run in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't enough and the Trojans rolled to victory!
Coach Kearney on the win.." Great start by Josh Monson against a very good New Bedford team! Complete game 2 hitter with 10 K's, Andrew Noviello and Joey Freiday led the way offensively with 2 hits and an RBI each- Good solid win today!!"
Monson improves to 1-0 on the season and pitching a complete game will help save the Trojan pitching staff for the busy week ahead, as they face Brockton on Wednesday and Lincoln Sudbury on Thursday at a site TBD. Probable starter for Wednesday is Andrew Noviello.

Connolly's 10 K's lead Trojans to victory over the Marshfield Rams
Game time temp was in the 50's with a slight breeze from right to left which after the winter we have had it felt like 70 degrees!
Connolly took the mound in the first and looked in mid season form as he blew threw the first 3 innings without allowing a base runner. The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when Senior Co-Captain Joe Freiday lasered a single to center that scored Senior Co-Captain Corey Dinunno from 2nd. The Trojans added another run in the 2nd on back to back to back singles by seniors Cory Wasylow, Connor Sullivan, and Junior Jonathan Livolsi. The Trojans added 1 more in the 3rd when an Andrew Noviello Sac fly would score Tyler Carey from 3rd. The Rams added an unearned run in the 4th, but it was too little too late.
Connolly's day was done after 5 innings throwing 73 pitches with 46 of them for strikes!
The Trojans added in insurance run in the 6th in the form of a Joe Freiday opposite field home run.
Junior RHP Andrew Noviello came in to pitch the last 2 innings striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced only allowing 1 hit and earned the save!
The Trojans were led offensively by Cory Wasylow (2 hits) and Joe Freiday ( 2 for 2 with 2 RBI's and a home run), but the Trojans could only garner 6 hits total!
Coach Kearney on the win... "We played well.. Opening day win! Jack Connolly and Andrew Noviello picked up right where they left off (both with even more velocity) and Joe Freiday had 2 big clutch hits and 2 RBI's!! 3 big tests ahead next week!"
The Trojans improve to 1-0 on the early season have 3 games, all on the road, next week, as they travel to New Bedford, Brockton and a new addition to the schedule Lincoln Sudbury (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday).

LET'S GET REAADYYY TO RUUUMMMBLLEE!
OK, so this isn't a heavy weight fight, and hopefully there won't be any rumbling going on, but the High School Baseball season is finally here!! Now I am not sure if we will start Tuesday, as scheduled (or later) because of the wet weather, but the BR Baseball team has a big X on their back, as they will be ranked #1 out of the gate and every team will be gunning for the DI State Champs!! I have removed the "2013 DI State Champs" from the title of the blog (as that is OLD NEWS), and I have removed the countdown timer as well, as the time has come!!
It is a new season with a lot of new faces! The Trojans will be led by 3 staples from last years team. D1 Commits Senior Co-Captain Joe Freiday (Virginia Tech), Junior Jack Connolly (Notre Dame), and Junior Andrew Noviello (Umaine) will lead the charge for the Trojans, as well as Seniors Josh Monson (Salve Regina), Adam Chase (Franklin Pierce), and Tyler Carey (Stonehill), who will also continue their baseball careers in college!
Newcomers Chris Newman RHP (Sophomore) and Mikey Manning LHP(Sophomore) hope to help a loaded Trojan pitching staff that will be led by Connolly, Noviello, and Senior Josh Monson, who played a key role in the Trojans run to the State Championship in 2013. Junior John Livolsi will likely anchor the hot corner at 3rd.
If you are "new" to the blog, there are a few things you should know. There will be a "live" scoreboard at the top of the blog so you can follow the action even if you can't make it to the game, and I will be posting videos of some of the highlights as the season rolls along (which will all be taken from a small hole in a fence, so pardon the accuracy). Unfortunately I can't videotape the entire game but hopefully I will catch most of the good stuff that happens.
The video above are some of the highlights from the pre-season scrimmages that took place in the last week!
Please follow @brbaseball_ for live twitter updates.

Mikey Baseball....
Well it appears as though former BR Trojan and current Wheaton Freshman Mikey "baseball" Bruemmel has started right where he LEFT off, as the LEFTY Bruemmel traded in his familiar red uniform, for one that had red nowhere in sight, as he started his collegiate career with a 2 hit 7 1/3 inning performance (earning the W) as the Wheaton Lyons defeated St. Joseph's (Maine) by a score of 3-1.
The 17th ranked Lyons improve to 4-0 on this young season, and will next face off against 8th ranked Webster University. Mike will most likely get his next start next Thursday or Friday as the Lyons finish their 9 day Florida swing before returning to Bridgewater to face Bridgewater State University on March 20th.

#TBT May 11, 2013 Noviello's 2 grand slams lift BR to victory!
The Trojans found themselves in an early hole, as the Dolphins scored a run in the first and 2 in the second, making the score 3-0.
After a 15 minute rain delay, the Trojans bats would come to life in the 3rd. Tyler Carey led off with a single followed by a few walks to load the bases for Dave Miller who would knock in a run.
The bases remained loaded for Sophomore Andrew Noviello who would hammer a 1-1 pitch over the right field fence for a Grand Salamie, making the score 5-3 (his first home run of the season). The Trojans tacked on 4 more runs on hits by Adam Chase, Mike Clifford, and a double by Joe Freiday to advance the lead to 9-3.
The "nail in the coffin" came in the 7th, as Andrew Noviello came to the plate, again with the bases loaded, and launched an 0-2 pitch over the right field fence for his second grand slam of the game, and the Trojans rolled to a 14-6 victory.

Flashback Sunday???
So I forgot to post a flashback this past week, so here it is!!
April 10, 2013 The Trojans improve to 4-0 defeating New Bedford in a nail biter 9-7.
Coach Kearney on the win--"Great game and good win over a tough NB team ! Bruemmel and Connolly nice job pitching - Freiday, Glavin led way offensively - McSherry play of the game on defense to save the lead ! 4-0 baby !!"
