April 4, 2013 Sophomore Jack Connolly led the Trojans to victory striking out 14 batters in 6 innings of work, as BR defeats Durfee and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Trojans honored at Thanksgiving Day Football game.
The D1 State Champs received their rings at halftime of the BR Football game in a ceremony honoring legendary Coach Hank Pearson! The rings were handed out by former BR Trojan Rich Dubee, who was drafted in the 3rd round by the Kansas City Royals in 1976, and is currently the minor league pitching coordinator for the Atlanta Braves.
Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Dan Buron and BR Trainer Pete Smith were a few of the support staff to receive Championship rings as well as the Coaching staff including Head Coach John Kearney and assistant coaches Glen dePontbrian, Joe Arruda and Dave Wallace and Rob Hinkley.
Last to receive their rings were Co-Captains Mike Bruemmel. Dave Miller and Ryan Scripter.
The BR football team dominated over Brockton 20-6 only allowing a score on the last play of the game!

Trojans Thanksgiving Day Tailgate!
The BR Trojans Baseball Team will be receiving their Division I State Championship Rings at half time of the BR Thanksgiving Day Football game! A surprise guest will be handing out the rings!
We invite all BR Baseball parents and players to congregate for some tailgating fun, starting Thursday at around 8:45AM, through half time, at a location in the parking lot TBD. Mr. Bruemmel is setting up some tents, chairs, a grill, and a portable heater, and has promised to impress us with his grilling expertise!!

Tic toc, tic toc.....
A few things have happened since my last post on Aug 11th to the BR Baseball Team. Most of the team continued playing baseball, whether it was for a summer travel team traveling up and down the east coast, or a local Legion team. The impact that this team has had on BR Baseball, will most likely last a long long time!
They won the Division I State Championship, toured the State House, were honored in a parade, and MORE!
With the departing Seniors all snuggled in at their respective colleges, its up to Coach Kearney to identify who will step up their game, and try to help BR repeat as State Champions!
Rising Junior Jack Connolly will return as the teams Ace. Connolly committed to Notre Dame on June 29th and played the summer with Team Nokona, and has since jumped on to play fall ball with The Tri-State Arsenal. The Arsenal will finish their season at the WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, where there will be over 800 scouts (mostly pro) in attendance.
Rising Senior Josh Monson will most likely be the number 2 starter in 2014. Patiently waiting for his chances in 2013, Monson outperformed most peoples expectations, playing a key role in the Trojans run to the State Championship with huge relief efforts in the Walpole and Billerica games! When playing Legion ball on June 16th, Josh suffered a high ankle sprain going into 2nd base. He has since recovered fully and is considering offers from Salve Regina, Roger Williams University, St Josephs and University of Southern Maine.
Rising Senior Joe Freiday had a summer to remember, playing all up and down the east coast for multiple teams, including Team Nokona, Team Georgia Baseball Academy, as well as The Philadelphia Phillies (on the East Coast Pro Showcase Team), The New York Yankees (at the Summer Rivalry Classic played at Yankees Stadium), as well as the North East Mets (playing at Citi Field, home of the Mets), and will finish off his year in Jupiter on the Tri-State Arsenal. Freiday verbally committed to Virginia Tech on July 23rd, and has garnered a lot of pro attention this summer.
Rising Senior Adam Chase finished a solid summer with East Cobb New England Indians playing multiple positions, including pitching, LF, 1B, and 3B covering 8 states from Maine to Georgia, as well as the Area Code tryout and the Lynn Invitational, and has committed to play for Franklin Pierce.
In 2014 there will be no more Mike Bruemmel saving the day, or Brian "Superman" McSherry making a diving play to extend the season!! Who will step up this year?

Mike Bruemmel named Male Athlete of The Year!
Wheaton bound Mike Bruemmel named the Taunton Daily Gazette Male Athlete of The Year!
After concluding his High School baseball career as many Seniors dream, but very few attain, pitching brilliantly and leading his team to the Division I State Championship, Mikey Baseball adds yet another accolade to his resume.
His performance for the Trojan baseball team, coupled with his terrific play with the Bridgewater-Raynham basketball team last winter, has earned Bruemmel the 2013 Taunton Gazette Male Athlete of the Year Award. “I was shocked when I heard it,” Bruemmel said, when learning of the honor. “I couldn’t believe it. I was stunned. This is a big deal for me. It is a big honor. I’m really happy about it. I’m really proud.”
The left-handed pitcher helped culminate a terrific run by the Trojans by tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout as the team won its first state crown with a 4-0 win.
“It was amazing,” Bruemmel said of winning the state championship. “It was the first time it was done in school history. It was like a dream. Looking back, I still get chills.”
“My simple goal at the start of the season was to have a better year than last year,” Bruemmel said. “As a team, we wanted to start the year off right. We wanted to win the league and get to 10 wins. Once we got into the tournament and won a few games, we really thought we could go all the way. We were really looking forward to the game against BC High and when we were able to come out on top that was huge for us.”
The senior captain was selected as the OCL co-MVP, helping the Trojans to the league title. In 10 games on the mound, Bruemmel finished 6-1 with one save and a 1.81 ERA.

Andrew Noviello named to Perfect Game Underclass All American team!
Rising Junior Andrew Noviello (P/3B) has been named to the (very prestigious) Perfect Game Underclass All American Team.
Every year the Perfect Game selects "the best of the best" rising Juniors to compete in a showcase style workout followed by a series of games. This years games will be played at Cunningham Stadium at the University of San Diego on August 12th and 13th.
Noviello was informed of his selection to the team after the WWBA 17u National Championship in Georgia, where he represented the Evoshield Canes as a Pitcher and 3rd baseman. Noviello went 4 for 10 on the week with 2 home runs, a triple and a double, as well as pitched 6 shutout innings striking out 9!
Noviello was only 1 of 2 New Englanders, and the only rising Junior from Massachusetts selected out of the 92 players in the event, which are all 2015 Grads.
Noviello says he has been in contact with some of the "elite" D1 schools such as Kentucky, South Carolina, Lousville, and NC State.

Joe Freiday Commits to Virginia Tech!
Bridgewater-Raynham Class of 2014 catcher Joe Freiday verbally committed
to Virginia Tech tonight, becoming the second Trojan in as many months
to commit to an Atlantic Coast Conference baseball program.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Freiday was one of the state’s leaders in runs plated, batting .425, with a .573 on-base percentage, 31 RBI and five home runs as the Trojans captured the MIAA Division 1 State Championship for the first time in school history. He also drew 21 walks and struck out just 10 times. Behind the plate, Freiday demonstrates above-average arm strength, recording a pop time as fast as 1.82 seconds.
At the time of his commitment, Freiday was also considering Coastal Carolina and Virginia, as well as a full ride from the University of Maine. He is the second B-R player in as many months to commit to an ACC program, joining (his cousin) 2015 righthander Jack Connolly, who committed to Notre Dame in late June.
Freiday is the second Bay Stater from the Class of 2014 to pledge to the Hokies, joining Boston Latin lefthander Pat Naughton, who committed last fall. When Freiday arrives in Blacksburg in the fall of 2014, he'll join BC High's Ryan Tufts, Lowell's Matt Tulley, and Noble & Greenough's Phil Sciretta among the Massachusetts natives on the roster. B-R product Eddie Campbell, a lefty for Tech the last three seasons, was drafted in the 15th round by the Seattle Mariners last month along with Middleboro's Tyler Horan who was drafted in the 8th round by The San Francisco Giants.
Freiday visited Blacksburg yesterday, and says he was immediately enamored with the campus.
"Obviously what attracted me there [initially] is they have an elite baseball team -- they're absolutely unreal at baseball, number one," Freiday said. "And then, once I got there, the campus was absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It's everything I wanted in a school -- athletically, the campus, and great academics -- there's so much to offer."
Since the Hokies first began evaluating Freiday, they've had a change in head coaches, with Peter Hughes leaving for the University of Oklahoma and Tech internally promoting pitching coach Patrick Mason. Mason, a Franklin native and former Northeastern University standout, watched Freiday in the Trojans' MIAA Division 1 South Final against BC High (of which Hughes is a graduate). He watched Freiday again a week later at Area Code Games tryouts on the campus of Bentley University.
"He's a real nice guy," Freiday said of Mason. "I know Hughes showed interest at first, and I know he texted [B-R coach John] Kearney. He [Mason] impressed me. He knew his stuff about baseball. He was also a catcher at Northeastern back in the day, so he probably saw me from a different perspective."

Connolly Commits To Notre Dame
Class of 2015 RHP Jack Connolly gave his verbal commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish!
Connolly, on a baseball trip in the Carolina's with Team Nokona, gave a verbal commitment to ND Head Coach Mik Aoki.
Lying on his bed in room 334 of the Courtyard Marriott in Durham NC, Connolly made the phone call and said "Coach, I talked it over with my parents, and I would like to commit!". Coach Aoki said that was great and reminded The rising Junior he would need to maintain "good grades"!
Connolly is also the latest product in a terrific family lineage. His brother Mike, a former University of Maine star, and Former Trojan, was drafted by the San Francisco Giants earlier this month. Their father, Mike Sr., was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1982 out of East Bridgewater High School.
"I went to Notre Dame and absolutely fell in love with it," Connolly told ESPNBoston.com. "It's amazing. Their baseball team ranked 15th in the nation at one point. The coach, I trust him, and he offered me a pretty good deal. It's a no-brainer, really."

Bruemmel powers Trojans to D1 State Championship!
The Trojans dominate Nashoba behind Mike Bruemmel's 12 strikeout, 2 hit, complete game shutout and capture the Division 1 State Championship!
Pinch me, pinch me! We are playing for the D1 State Championship at LeLacheur Park (Home of the Spinners), and I really can't believe we made it here. If you told me on April 2nd that we could or would do it, I would've waved my hand at you as if I was swatting a fly buzzing around my head.
What I was about to witness was almost as unbelievable, as Senior Co-Captain Mike Bruemmel, who will be attending Wheaton College in the fall, grabbed the ball from Coach Kearney's hand, and pitched the game of his life, throwing a COMPLETE game shutout. Bruemmel flirted with a no hitter through 7 innings, but the no hit bid was thwarted in the 8th.
The Trojans jumped on the board in the top of the 3rd when Corey Dinunno (single) would score on an RBI single by, none other than himself, Mike Bruemmel to take a 1-0 lead. The Trojans added 2 more runs in the top of the 4th, on hits by Senior Brian McSherry who advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, and would score on an infield Chieftan error on a hard hit ball by Tyler Carey, who ended up on 2nd. Sophomore Andrew Noviello would knock home Carey with a laser 1 RBI double to left.
Bruemmel kept the Nashoba hitters off balance locating his "down and away" fastball, curve and changeup, keeping them guessing.
The Chieftans came to the plate in the bottom of the 8th, hitless and looking for answers, when Chieftan Jack Sarnosky strode to the plate and singled to center field and breaking up the no hit bid! The crowd at LeLacheur park rose the their feet (from both sides) and saluted the lefty Senior for his efforts!
Brummel struck out the next batter, and with 1 out, a runner on first, a full count, and Chieftans grasping for something, they put the hit and run on, and the Trojans executed a perfect strikem out, throwem out, Bruemmel to Freiday who lasered a perfect throw to Shortstop Tyler Glavin who slapped the tag on Sarnosky killing the threat!
The Trojans added an insurance run in the top of the ninth When Cory Wasylow (single) would be knocked in by who else but Mike Bruemmel! Coach Kearney had the option of putting in Senior Cody Medairos to close the door, but Mikey Bruemmel had pitched such an efficient game, only throwing 89 pitches through 8 innings, so he left him in.
To the 9th inning we go. Bruemmel struck out the first batter on 3 pitches, gave up a harmless single, induced a fly ball to right, and struck out the last batter for the complete game win!!! Mike took a few steps towards the dugout, fell to his knees and was swarmed/dogpiled by his team mates.

Trojans defeat Billerica 5-2 and Advance to State Championship game!
The Trojans jumped out to the early lead in the 1st inning as Tyler Carey was knocked home by Tyler Glavin to make the score 1-0. The Indians added a run of their own in the top of the 4th to knot the game at 1. The Trojans exploded for 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th on hits by Connor Sullivan, an RBI single by Tyler Glavin, a HUGE 2 RBI single by Senior Brian McSherry scoring Joe Freiday and Tyler Glavin, and a Corey Dinunno RBI single scoring Dave Miller to make the score 5-1. The Indians came roaring back in the top of the 6th, but left with no runs and leaving the bases loaded. The never say die Indians threatened again in the 7th, as Sophomore Jack Connolly walked the first 2 batters with no outs, and Coach Kearney went to the Bullpen for Junior Josh Monson. The Indians would score only 1 run to make it 5-2.
Jack Connolly earns the W and advances to 6-1 on the season, giving up 2 runs and striking out 6 in 7 plus innings pitched. It was quite a week for the Connolly Family as Jacks brother Mike, who played his Junior and Senior year for the Trojans, was selected in the 27th round of the MLB Draft, taken by the San Francisco Giants!
Offensively leading the way for the Trojans were Tyler Glavin 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's and Brian McSherry 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.

Trojans shock BC High!
The Trojans clinched the D1 South Championship on Sunday night in a packed house at Campanelli Stadium, defeating the BC High Eagles 4-3 in the most exciting game of the season, winning the Divison 1 South, and advance to the Divison 1 Semi-Finals!
The Trojans started the scoring early in the first inning, as Corey Dinunno walked, followed by a Tyler Glavin single. A Mike Bruemmel sac fly advanced Dinunno to 3rd and he would score on a Joe Freiday sac fly. Enter Dave Miller......... Senior Co-Captain Dave Miller who has been unable to play the field because of injury, has been the DH for several games. To say he has performed in that role would be an understatement!! Dave Miller came to the plate with 2 outs and hit a laser triple to left center field, scoring Tyler Glavin, and would later score on a wild pitch to make the BR lead 3-0. The Eagles would threaten in the 3rd, but left the bases loaded. BC would score 2 runs in the 6th and would tie the game in the top of the 8th. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th Dave Miller (hit by pitch) would score on a double by Tyler Carey! The never say die Eagles would put runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out, and with a 3-2 count, and with Virginia Tech bound Ryan Tufts at the plate, they put the hit and run on. Ryan hit a gap shot to right center field, that appear would score both runners and give the Eagles the lead, as they were off with the pitch, however the speedy Center Fielder Tyler Carey got a great jump on the ball and tracked it down, made a fabulous catch and threw to 2nd base for the double play... Game over... BR WINS.... BR WINS!!!
Mike Bruemmel pitched 7 1/3 innings, throwing 130 or so pitches striking out 8 in a gutsy performance, and was relieved by Senior Cody Medeiros who only gave up 1 hit, walked 3 and struck out 2.
Tyler Carey led the offense going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a walk and Dave Miller went 1 for 3 with a triple , 1 RBI and 2 runs scored! In a touching gesture, the crowd at Campanelli stadium gave the BR Trojans softball team a standing ovation as they entered the stadium in the 4th inning after losing the D1 South finals to Milford High.
Said Bruemmel: “I wanted the ball for this game. This could have been my
last game and I know most of the kids on their team. I played with them
and I know most of them so well. I was locating my change-up in the
game.”
"What a game,” said B-R coach John Kearney, whose team last won a sectional title in 2003. “BC High played their hearts out. Luckily, we put that three-spot on them early and it took a little bit of the pressure off of us."

B R WINS!
The #5 ranked Bridgewater Raynham Trojans upset #1 ranked Walpole Rebels, in come from behind fashion, in a slugfest, on Wednesday afternoon at Campanelli Stadium in a 3 Hour and 40 minute marathon, that I never thought would end, winning 13-9 and advancing to the state D1 South finals.
Let me start by saying I am a big fan of this BR team, and they have exceeded my pre-season expectations by leaps and bounds, but after being down 6-0 after 1 inning of play against the #1 ranked Rebels, I mentally prepared myself for a 15-2 route by the Rebels. I couldn't have been more wrong!
The Rebels jumped out to an early lead in the first, scoring 6 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks .
The Trojans answered in quick fashion throwing up 4 runs in the top of the 2nd. Dave Miller started it off with a double and was driven home by Corey Dinunno (single). Tyler Glavin came to the plate and lined a bases loaded single to center scoring Dinunno. A Mike Bruemmel hit by pitch plated Tyler Carey, and Connor Sullivan would score on a wild pitch to make the score 6-4. NEW BALL GAME!!!
The Rebels added a run in the 3rd to make it 7-4. Joe Freiday led off the 5th with a BOMB triple to center field, sliding Pete Rose style into 3rd, and popped up with a big fist pump to get the BR faithful roaring and the team pumped up, and it worked! Freiday would be knocked in by Adam Chase, followed by hits by Dave Miller, Corey Dinunno, and a bases clearing triple by (the slumping no more) Tyler Carey. Senior pinch hitter Ryan Scripter followed it up with a single, scoring Carey, to take the lead 8-7. The Trojans added 2 more when Tyler Glavin singled, followed by a Mike Bruemmel RBI single, and throw in walks by Freiday and McSherry (RBI) to make the score 10-7!
The Rebels answered in the bottom of the 5th scoring 2 runs on 2 hits, to make it a 1 run game. After a scoreless 6th, the Trojans bats roared again as singles by Connor Sullivan, Tyler Glavin and Mike Bruemmel would load the bases for Joe Freiday who single to right, scoring Sullivan, and a BIG 2 RBI single to center by Senior Dave Miller to make the score 13-9.

Trojans roll on to the Semi-Finals!
#5 ranked Trojans roll on to the semi finals of the MIAA D1 South State Tournament behind a very strong combined shutout pitching performance (18K's total) led by Sophomore Andrew Noviello's 6 innings of work (hitting 91 on the gun), defeating the # 4 ranked Braintree Wamps Tuesday evening, by a score of 12-0, at Braintree High School.
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 2nd when Brian McSherry would score on a Corey Dinunno single. The game remained 1-0 until the top of the 5th when Joe Freiday would double home Tyler Glavin, Dave Miller would knock in Joe Freiday with a single, and Andrew Noviello would knock in Ross Talpy who pinch ran for McSherry, to make the lead 4-0.
Andrew Noviello threw 6 innings of shutout work throwing 126 pitches, striking out 11 and walking 5, and was replaced in the 7th by Mikey (Baseball) Bruemmel, who continued right where he left off, striking out 6 of the 7 batters he faced and looked terrific! The Trojans would head to the 9th with a 4-0 lead and would explode for 8 runs led by Senior Brian McSherry who doubled to lead off the inning and then smashed a 3 run (no doubter) home run to right center field to cap off the 8 run inning.
Senior Cody Medairos came in and closed the door in the 9th to seal the deal.
This game was a lot closer than the final score showed as a gutsy Braintree team, who has 8 seniors graduating, played a very good game. They have a very young pitching staff, led by 3 Sophomores and a Freshman, and should be a tough team to beat over the coming years.

Bruemmel saves the day!
The Trojans won their first playoff game, against a gutsy Attleboro team, behind the leadership of their senior Co-Captain Mike Bruemmels strong 3 inning pitching performance and 3 hits on Friday afternoon in a packed house at Hank Pearson field on a scorching day in May.
Game time temperature was a steamy 90 degrees with a slight breeze in from center field. The tents were up and the coolers were packed!
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first when Tyler Carey would score on a Mike Bruemmel Fielders choice to make the score 1-0. The Trojans added 2 more in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI single by Mike Bruemmel, a wall ball double by Joe Freiday, and a sac fly by Dave Miller to make the score 3-0. As the Trojans were cruising to victory, the Bombadiers were not ready to roll over and die, as they put up 4 runs in the 5th on 5 hits, to take. 4-3 lead. Starting pitcher Sophomore Jack Connolly's day (103 pitches) was done as Coach Kearney went to the bullpen, bringing in the patiently waiting Junior Josh Monson. Josh gave up a single, struck out the next batter, picked the runner off of first, and then struck out the last Bombadier for a very efficient 1-2-3 inning. Down 4-3 Kearney called Senior Mike Bruemmel in to pitch the 7th and he did not disappoint, having a 1-2-3 inning of his own striking out 2. In the bottom of the 7th the Trojans exploded for 4 runs on hits by Franklin Pierce bound Tyler Glavin (3 for 4 on the day), Wheaton College bound Mike Bruemmel (3 for 5 with 2 RBI's), a Joe Freiday double (2 for 4, 1 RBI), and Eastern Connecticut University bound Dave Miller ( 1 for 2 with 3 huge RBI's), Cory Wasylow single, and Senior Ryan Scripter clutch RBI double to regain the lead 7-4. Bruemmel came back to strike out the side in the 8th, and strike out 2 out of 3 in the 9th to seal the deal, and save the day! BR wins! BR wins!

As any Senior athlete comes to realize one day they will play their last game as a high school athlete (sob sob), hopefully going out on a high note, and the Seniors came to play and PERFORMED! Wheaton College is very lucky to be getting Mikey baseball on their team!

Trojans open up post season V Attleboro
The BR Trojans will square off against the Attleboro Bombadiers on Friday at 4:00 at Hank Pearson Field. The Trojans finished the regular season (15-5) as the 5th seed in D1 South, and Attleboro (11-9) finished as the 12th seed. The winner will face off against the winner of the Braintree-Mansfield game on Monday.
The Preliminary "play in" game will pit North Attleboro against Brookline Thursday at 4:00 to even out the bracket at 16 teams.
Probable starter for BR is Sophomore Jack Connolly.... Tic toc...

Trojans drop regular season finale 6-2
The Trojans lost their last regular season game to the Hingham Harbormen, in a game that really didn't mean much for either team, and that is the way they both played. Combining for 12 errors and only a TOTAL of 10 hits (5 each), and a combined 20 strikeouts, this was an uglyfest to be polite!
The one bright spot on the day was Senior pitcher Cody Medeiros's 2 innings pitched, striking out 4, and cementing his spot as the closer for the post season, as he touched 90 on the gun!
Official MIAA seedings will take place Tuesday may 28 with preliminary and first round games to start no earlier than Thursday May 30th.

Noviello.......16.........STRIKEOUTS!!!!
There are certain things coaches dream about and there are certain things they worry about. If I were a coach, and I am glad I am not, I would worry about depth in my pitching staff. I would worry if my ace Billy didn't do well, would my backup Johnny be able to come in and get the job done? Coach John Kearney doesn't have those worries. The Trojans are blessed with one of the deepest pitching staffs in the state. Senior (left hander) Mike Bruemmel is pitching at a career "best" right now, Sophomore Jack Connolly has an "unhittable" curve ball, Senior Cody Medeiros is just returning to action and looks like he is in mid season form (upper 80's +++), Junior Josh Monson (2-0) is waiting in the wings, and then there is Sophomore Andrew Noviello... Andrew got the nod from Coach Kearney Wednesday afternoon, seeking revenge, against the teams April 25th loss (BR's first loss of the season), and he thrived!
Andrew struck out 2 in the 1st, 3 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and 1 in the 7th for a total of 16 K's.... In a 7 inning game?? Thats unheard of!!!! I am glad he is on our team!

Joe Freiday led the way offensively going 3-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, Dave Miller went 2-2 with an RBI, run scored and two walks, Cory Wasylow and Tyler Carey both went 2-4.
The Trojans finish up the regular season against a beefy Hingham squad on Thursday at 4:00 at Hank Pearson field. Probable starter is Jack Connolly.
FYI The MIAA seeding's meeting will be on May 28th, and the First round will start no earlier than May 30th......

Mikey "Baseball"!!!!!
Leaders are supposed to "LEAD", Captains are supposed to "set an example", and Mikey Baseball did both on Monday afternoon. Senior Co-Captain Mikey (Baseball) Bruemmel, LED the Trojans to victory against the Brockton Boxers, pitching a combined 1 hit shutout, only walking 2 and striking out 10, in his "best" performance of the season!
The Trojans marched their way into Campanelli Stadium on Monday, with a confidence level near an all time high, their senior on the mound, and facing a dejected Brockton team!
This game had the makings of a pitchers duel, as the game remained scoreless through 4 innings. In the top of the 5th the BR bats came alive when the Boxers pitching started a little shaky giving up a 2 walks, and a Tyler Carey infield hit to make the BR lead 1-0. Joe Freiday would knock in 2 runs with a single to make the score 3-0. Dave Miller would smoke a double to Left that would eventually score Freiday, and a McSherry walk would score Dave Miller, to make the score 5-0. The Trojans would add another run in the 6th on a Dave Miller single to put the game out of reach 6-0.

Cody has been patiently waiting for his chance, recovering from a torn labrum, that has kept him sidelined all year, and he did not dissapoint. He threw 9 pitches, all for strikes, striking out 2, and inducing a ground out, back to none other than himself, to end the game.
“He was incredible,” said B-R coach John Kearney (of Bruemmel). “By far his best performance of the year and maybe of his career. He was just in command of all three of his pitches the entire game.” "Pitching and defense... Mike Bruemmel HUGE game... No errors.. Nice to see Cody M back too" Coach Kearney added.

Noviello's 14 K's leads Trojans to victory.
The Trojans routed the Falmouth High Clippers 9-1 on Thursday afternoon behind a STRONG pitching performance by Sophomore Andrew Noviello (3-1). While today may be forever known as "Bomb Threat Thursday", as the entire High School spent the majority of the day hanging out at the football field after a threat was phoned in around 10:15 AM leading to an early dismissal and a search of the entire school by bomb sniffing dogs from Mass State Police and Quincy Police. Search results were negative and at no time were any students or staff in danger (police said).
As is normally the case, the Trojans fell behind early in the first inning as the Clippers came out swinging and scored a run off 2 hits to take an early lead 1-0. The Trojans would answer in the bottom of the second scoring 6 runs, batting around the order, on hits by Noviello (double), Wasylow, McSherry, Nee, Carey, Bruemmel, Freiday, and Noviello (again), to make the score 6-1. They would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th on hits by Joe Freiday (double), Dave Miller, Cory Wasylow, and would add another run in the 5th on hits by Tyler Carey (double) and Mike Bruemmel to put the game well out of reach.
Multiple hitsmen for the Trojans included Cory Wasylow, Andrew Noviello, Joe Freiday, Mike Bruemmel, and Tyler Carey.

Connolly HUGE in pitchers duel! Trojans clinch Old Colony League Title!
Sophomore Jack Connolly was huger than huge on Tuesday afternoon as he led the Trojans to victory 2-1 over the Dartmouth Indians, striking out 10, and only giving up 5 hits and 1 walk in a complete game effort.The day started with a pregame ceremony celebrating the career of Dartmouth Head Coach Tom McDermott who is retiring at the end of this season after 30 years of coaching. Congratulations Coach McDermott!!The Indians got on the board first, scoring their only run of the game in the top of the 4th, on a delayed double steal, making the score 1-0. The Trojans answered in the bottom of the 5th when Senior Brian McSherry hustled out an infield hit. Despite McSherry being fleet of feet, Coach Kearney went to the bench and called on the speedy Senior Ross Talpy to pinch run. After advancing to 2nd on a ground out, Talpy would score the tying run when Corey Dinunno hustled out a laser double to left field to tie the game at 1. Senior Tyler Glavin came to the plate and hit a hard ground ball single to third, that scored the go ahead and eventual game winning run in the form of Corey Dinunno!The never say die Indians threatened in the top of the 9th, when with 2 outs Coach McDermott, who has been around the block a few times, went to his bench and summonsed to number 20 Nick Paine who did not disappoint as he poked a single to right field to extend the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs Coach Kearney called time and visited Connolly on the mound, telling him to "have fun and finish it, it was all his". After a longer than average visit he returned to the dugout and watched Connolly Strike out the last batter on 4 pitches, the last of which may have been the hardest pitch Jack ever threw!! Coach Kearney on the win "Awesome pitching performance by Jack Connolly and I'm very proud of the whole BR Baseball Program for winning the OCL title."The Trojans will face a rejuvenated Falmouth High team, that is looking for revenge, on Thursday at 4:00 at Hank Pearson Field.

Noviello's TWO Grand Slams lifts BR to victory.
Game 2 of Saturdays Double header had a much different result than game 1,as the Trojans rebounded nicely from back to back shutouts scoring 14 runs on 10 hits, defeating the DY Dolphins 14-6.
The Trojans found themselves in an early hole, as the Dolphins scored a run in the first and 2 in the second, making the score 3-0.
After a 15 minute rain delay, the Trojans bats would come to life in the 3rd. Tyler Carey led off with a single followed by a few walks to load the bases for Dave Miller who would knock in a run. The bases remained loaded for Sophomore Andrew Noviello who would hammer a 1-1 pitch over the right field fence for a Grand Salamie, making the score 5-3 (his first home run of the season). The Trojans tacked on 4 more runs on hits by Adam Chase, Mike Clifford, and a double by Joe Freiday to advance the lead to 9-3.
The "nail in the coffin" came in the 7th, as Andrew Noviello came to the plate, again with the bases loaded, and launched an 0-2 pitch over the right field fence for his second grand slam of the game, and the Trojans rolled to a 14-6 victory.
Junior Josh Monson improves to 2-0 on the season striking out 5 and giving up 0 walks.

SHUT.........OUT.........
11, 17, 10, 9, and 5 are adjectives formerly used to describe the Trojans "side" of the score, however the Trojans were "shut out" for the first time all season as the Barnstable Red Raiders said "not so fast" on clinching the OCL title on a merky Thursday afternoon at Barnstable High school.
The Trojans never seemed to get it going on the offensive side, as #21 pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 9 and only allowing 2 walks.
Andrew Noviello pitched a complete game as well, striking out 3 and giving up 4 walks, in his respectable 110 pitch performance, but suffers the loss, falling to 2-1 on the season.
It appeared to be an old fashion "pitchers duel" as the game remained scoreless into the 4th inning, when the Red Raiders scored 2 runs on 3 hits in the 4th inning, and that would be all they needed, as they coast to a 3-0 victory.

If you asked me on April 1st if I would be tickled pink to have a 10-3 record on May 10th, the answer would be a resounding yes!!! If you go back to my first post I wrote that I would blog about the good and the bad, and it doesn't feel good to blog about the bad..... I'm just saying......

Trojans Clinch Playoff Birth!
The Trojans notched their 10th win of the season, clinching an early playoff birth, defeating The Durfee High Hilltoppers, 9-4 on Tuesday afternoon.
Tyler Carey started off the scoring, with a bang, as he did on opening day, this time with a 400' BOMB that sailed over the 384' fence in center field, setting the tone and making the score 1-0. Mike Bruemmel would triple to center field knocking in Andrew Noviello (singled), and would later score when Joe Freiday (walk) would get caught in a rundown between 1st and 2nd, making the score 3-0. The Hilltoppers would answer in the top of the 2nd putting up a 3 spot to tie the game at 3. The Trojans added another run in the 3rd on a Tyler Glavin RBI single, and one in the 4th on a Joe Freiday RBI single, to make the score 5-3, and would put the game out of reach in the 5th, scoring 4 runs on a 2 RBI triple by Tyler Carey and an RBI double "off the fence" by Joe Freiday.
The Hilltoppers would throw up a run in the bottom of the 7th but it was too little too late.
Starting pitcher, Sophomore Jack Connolly, got the start and the W (4-1), pitching 6 strong innings, striking out 10 and walking 4, and gave up only 2 earned runs. He relied, as usual, on his curveball as well as his 85 MPH fastball!

Joe Freiday's 2 Home Runs Leads BR to 9-2 Victory!
The Trojans defeated the Brockton Boxers 9-2 on Friday afternoon (ironically improving to 9-2) at Hank Pearson Field, as Joe Freiday had a good Friday (ironically?) going 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored, to lead the Trojans offense.
The Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd scoring 2 runs on a Joe Freiday laser home run (5th HR), and a Pat Nee Sac Fly (scoring Dave Miller) . The Boxers would answer in the top of the 4th scoring 2 runs on 1 hit and a couple of walks to "make it interesting" tying the game at 2. Senior Co Captain Mike Bruemmel came in for relief of Junior Josh Monson in the 5th, and the game remained tied until the bottom of the 5th when Mike Bruemmel singled to right field, stole 2nd, and would score on a 2 run home run by Freiday! The BR bats would erupt in the bottom of the 6th as pinch hitter Adam Chase would hammer a 2-1 pitch over the center field fence (2nd HR) to make it 5-2. The Trojans added 3 more runs, in the bottom of the 6th, to put the game out of reach on a line drive single by Mikey Clifford, several walks, and a single by Cory Wasylow. Bruemmel would strike out the side in the 7th and that was

Noviello powers BR to 2nd OCL victory!
Andrew Noviello's strong performance leads BR to an 6-2 win over the Dartmouth Indians, earning their second Old Colony League victory (2-0) on Thursday Afternoon at Dartmouth High School, advancing their record to 8-2 overall, and only 2 wins away from locking up a post season birth.
There are a LOT of adjectives one could use when describing Sophomore Andrew Noviello. Some of the words thrown around on Thursday included "fireballer, gamer, and clutch". Andrew was definitely on his game this sunny afternoon, as he pitched 7 strong innings, striking out 9 (by my count) and knocking in the go ahead and eventual game winning run, in the form of a sacrifice fly in the 8th inning. Andrew relied on his 84-87 MPH fast ball, as well as his 43 MPH slurve (I made that up).
Ryan Gaydou got the start for the Dartmouth Indians, and he certainly came to play, as he methodically struck out the (Trojans) side in the top of the first inning and set the tone for this pitchers duel as he held the Trojans scoreless through 6 innings.
Ryan is a short lefty with a sneaky pick off move to first, and some great off speed pitches to go along with his 82-84 MPH fastball (9 K's)

The Indians would threaten in the bottom of the 8th, as Cory Wasylow came in for relief, and induced an infield fly ball that the fireballing/gamer/clutch Andrew Noviello (now playing 3rd base) enthusiastically called off the entire infield and tried to make a play on a sky high fly ball that bounced off his glove (in the area of 2nd base), that he clearly shouldn't have attempted (E5). The Indians would bunt the runner over to 2nd putting the tying run in scoring position with 1 out. After a 1st pitch (ball) the runner on 2nd bit off a little more than he could chew, as Junior Catcher Joe Freiday Jr. gunned the next pitch down to SS Dave Miller for the pick off, quelling the threat! I don't know who was happier, Me (Joey's Dad) or Andrew (fist pumping/smiling/fist pumping) Noviello!! The Trojans put the game out of reach in the top of the 9th on hits by Corey Dinunno (single), Brian (welcome back) McSherry (double), Mike Bruemmel (FC) scoring pinch runner Jack Connolly, and Joe Freiday Sac Fly scoring Tyler Carey, to make the score 6-2. Josh Monson came in to seal the deal in the 9th and faced the minimum 3 batters and the Trojans won again.
Senior Co-Captain Mike Bruemmel led the offense with 2 hits and 1 RBI. Cory Wasylow and Josh Monson were very effective in relief, and Senior Mike Clifford made a great diving catch in left field!

After a 1st pitch (ball) the runner on 2nd bit off a little more than he could chew, as Junior Catcher Joe Freiday Jr. gunned the next pitch down to SS Dave Miller for the pick off, quelling the threat! I don't know who was happier, Me (Joey's Dad) or Andrew (fist pumping/smiling/fist pumping) Noviello!! The Trojans put the game out of reach in the top of the 9th on hits by Corey Dinunno (single), Brian (welcome back) McSherry (double), Mike Bruemmel (FC) scoring pinch runner Jack Connolly, and Joe Freiday Sac Fly scoring Tyler Carey, to make the score 6-2. Josh Monson came in to seal the deal in the 9th and faced the minimum 3 batters and the Trojans won again.
Senior Co-Captain Mike Bruemmel led the offense with 2 hits and 1 RBI. Cory Wasylow and Josh Monson were very effective in relief, and Senior Mike Clifford made a great diving catch in left field!
There is no rest for the weary as the Trojans face off against the Brockton Boxers on Friday afternoon at 4:00 at Hank Pearson field. Josh Monson is the expected starter.
I think Andrew is sleeping with a smile on his face tonight and deservedly so!

BR returns to their winning ways!
The Trojans rebounded nicely today, from back to back losses last week, by shutting out the Barnstable Red Raiders (5-2) Tuesday afternoon in their first Old Colony League game, behind a strong pitching performance by Sophomore Jack Connolly(3-1) by a score of 8-0.
While the Trojans never had a break out inning, they scored "one at time" through out the game, starting in the first inning when Senior Co-Captain Dave Miller singled home Tyler Carey to take the early lead and score the only run the Trojans would need. The Trojans added 1 in the 2nd, and 2 in the 3rd on RBi's by Pat Nee and Tyler Carey (double), and would add another run in the 5th on hits by Corey Dinunno and Connor Sullivan. In the 7th they added 2 more runs on another Corey Dinunno single and a Tyler (what have you done for me lately) Carey Sac Fly. The Red Raiders threatened loading the bases twice and stranding several base runners as Jack Connolly (117 pitches (74 for strikes)) and the Trojans defense thwarted the idea of giving up any runs. Sophomore Andrew Noviello came in for relief in the 9th inning, and the Trojans returned to the win column.
Coach Kearney on the win... "Great big time pitching performance by Jack C, and one of the better overall games BR Baseball has had in a couple of years- Everyone contibuted!"

Trojans lose 14-11 in scorefest!
The Trojans lost their 2nd game in a row, on Saturday, to the Hingham Harbormen 14-11 in a slug fest. A pitchers duel it was not, as between both teams there were 19 hits and 14 walks.
The Trojans grabbed the early lead in the first inning when Joe Freiday laced a 2 RBI double to left field, scoring Tyler Carey (HBP) and Tyler Glavin (BB), and would later score on a Dave Miller line drive single to right, making the score 3-0. The Harbormen would answer in the bottom of the 1st scoring 5 runs on only 3 hits, and would add another run in the 2nd on 1 hit. The Trojans would rebound in the top of the 3rd when Tyler Glavin doubled, followed by Joe Freiday and Dave Miller walks to load the bases for Adam Chase who drilled a double down the left field line and cleared the bases knotting the score at 6. The Harbormen appeared to have put the game out of reach in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 7 runs on 8 hits but the never say die Trojans would score 5 runs in the top of the 4th on hits by Tyler Carey and Dave Miller and 3 "almost" costly walks, to "make it a game", but it wasn't enough as the Harbormen would hold on and win 14-11.
Junior Adam Chase (0-1) suffers the loss lasting only 2 1/3 innings and throwing 75 pitches. Sophomore Cory Wasylow came in for relief in the 3rd inning and pitched admirably giving up 4 hits and striking out 2.

Unbeaten No More!
The Trojans suffered their first defeat of the season, losing to the Marshfield Rams 10-3 at Hank Pearson Field.
The Rams got on the board early scoring 1 run in the top of the 1st, 3 in the top of the 2nd, and 2 in the top of the 3rd, to take a 6-0 lead. The Trojans would answer in the bottom of the 5th scoring 3 runs on hits by Tyler Glavin and a 2 RBI double by Mike Bruemmel. The Rams would put up 3 more in the top of the 6th, put the game out of reach, and would roll to a 10-3 win and snap the Trojans 6 game winning streak!
The BR pitching staff gave up a combined 12 hits, 9 walks, 2 hit batsmen and had 10 strikeouts. Sophomore Jack Connolly suffers the loss only lasting 2 innings, throwing 46 pitches and falls to 2-1 on the season.
“We didn’t play well,” said B-R coach John Kearney. “We got what we deserved today. We came out of the gate sluggish and our pitching for the first time all year was a little bit disappointing.”
On the bright side: Senior Pat Nee went 1 for 3 on the day and had 4 put outs at 3rd base, filling in for the "sidelined" Andrew Noviello. Senior Mike Bruemmel continues to hit extra base hits, as 5 of his 9 hits on the season were extra base hits (3 doubles and 2 triples) giving him an impressive .696 slugging %.

Blame it on the rain!!
Tuesdays game against DY has been postponed until May 11, 2013 where the Trojans will host a double header starting at 11:00 AM.
The rained out April 12th game against Hingham has been re-scheduled for this Saturday April 27, 2013 at 10:00AM at Hingham.
Go Figure....... BR is now ranked 12th in the state by ESPNBoston.com and 9th by The Boston Herald and The Boston Globe.....

BR Trojans win The Brad Martin Memorial Tournament and remain undefeated.
The Trojans Shut out the Silver Lake Lakers 5-0 on Thursday afternoon behind a strong pitching performance by Sophomore Andrew Noviello, winning the Brad Martin Memorial Tournament despite silenced bats. An offensive juggernaut it was naut!
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead scoring the only runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning on their only 3 hits of the game. Tyler Carey, Dave Miller and Brian McSherry (2 RBI double) had the lonely 3 Trojan hits. Fortunately that is all they would need as Andrew Noviello limited the Lakers to only 2 hits, relying on his fastball, striking out 8 and only letting up 3 walks to earn his first win of the year. Josh Monson came in to pitch the 7th and struck out the side, only throwing 12 pitches!
The Trojans remain undefeated and will travel to South Yarmouth to face DY Tuesday at 4:00.

BR TROJANS WIN AGAIN!!
Sophomore Jack Connolly pitched a complete game, 10 strikeout performance, only giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run, in an ugly win over the New Bedford Whalers in the first game of the Brad Martin Memorial Tournament at Siever Field in Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon.
This wasn't the prettiest of wins, but a win is a win.
As the golf saying goes, "they don't draw pictures on the scorecard".
The Trojans found themselves in a hole early on in the 1st inning as the Whalers jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Trojans would get 1 run back when Junior Corey Dinunno laid down a perfect bunt, and would eventually score on an errant Whaler throw. The Trojans would tie the score in the top of the 5th on a laser home run by Junior Tyler Carey (2nd of the season), that went in and out of the glove of the Center fielder (great effort) and went over the fence.
The Whalers would answer and retake the lead in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 2-3. The Trojans would score 2 runs in the top of the 6th when an Adam Chase walk, Senior Co-Captain Dave Miller double, and a Mike Bruemmel RBI single would make the score 4-3. The Trojans would seal the deal in the top of the 7th when Tyler Carey and Corey Dinunno (both hit by pitch) would score on an Adam Chase bomb 3 run Home Run "off the bus" (waking the bus driver)! The Trojans added 2 more runs when Mike Bruemmel tripled and Connor Sullivan singled, to end any doubt and make the score 9-3.
The Whalers would threaten in the Bottom of the 7th loading the bases and scoring a run but the Trojans held on and ended the game with a 6-4-3 (Miller-Sullivan-Chase) double play.
The Trojans remain undefeated and improve to 5-0 early on in this season, and will face Silver Lake (also 5-0) in the battle of the unbeatens, in the Championship game at 2:00 on Thursday at Siever Field.

Brad Martin Memorial Tournament
The Trojans will face off against New Bedford High, for the 2nd game in a row, on Tuesday at Siever field in Plymouth as part of the Brad Martin Memorial Tournament. Plymouth North will play Silver Lake at 2:00 PM. On Thursday there will be a consolation game at 11:00 AM, and the Championship game will be at 2:00.

Trojans win a nail biter!!
The Trojans advanced to 4-0 on the season after defeating New Bedford Whalers 9-7 in a 7 Inning nail biter at Hank Pearson Field.
The Whalers took the early lead 1-0 in the top of the first inning, when the Trojans Answered in the bottom of the first inning with a Joe Freiday 2 run home run.
The Whalers tied the score in the top of the third inning only to have the Trojans answer in the bottom of the third inning with two more runs on hits by Tyler Carey, Tyler Glavine and Joe Freiday making the score 4-2. The Whalers would put up 2 runs in the top of the 4th to knot the score at 4. The Trojans would retake the lead back with a BIG inning in the bottom of the 5th with a Connor Sullivan walk, singles by Tyler Carey and Tyler Glavin, Sac fly by Andrew Noviello, and Joe Freiday walk to load the bases for Senior Co-Captain Mikey Bruemmel who lasered a 2 RBI single to center scoring Carey and Glavin. Adam Chase would knock in Freiday and the Trojans would lead 8-4.
The Never say die Whalers would answer putting up 3 runs in the top of the 6th making the score 8-7, and wanting more, when Coach Kearney went to the bullpen, as Bruemmels day was done (121 pitches). With the tying run on 2nd, Sophomore Jack Connolly would only need to throw 1 pitch as a whaler lined one down the first base line as Brian (Superman) McSherry threw on his cape and saved the day, and made the defensive play of the year, making the out un-assisted. The Trojans would score an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th with hits by Pat Nee, Tyler Glavin, and Andrew Noviello to make the score 9-7. As darkness was falling, Jack Connolly would close the door striking out the last two batters to EARN the save!
That was by far the most exciting game of the year as both teams "wanted" the win!

BR bats remain RED HOT!
Monson opened the game striking out the side in the first inning, and kept Whitman Hanson off the board until the 3rd inning when they would put up their only run of the game. The Lead proved to be short lived, as the Trojans scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. The inning started with an Andrew Noviello double, followed by a Joe Freiday 2 run home run, singles by Mike Bruemmel (3 for 5 on the day), Ryan Scripter (2 for 2 with 2 RBI's), and Connor Sullivan (2 for 2 on the day).
The bats would come alive again in the bottom of the 6th with a Kevin Newton single, Tyler Glavin double, Joe Freiday 3 run Home Run, Dave Miller single and Cory Wasylow double.
The red hot Trojans are batting .427 as a team and have scored 38 runs in the first 3 games. They will face off against New Bedford High Wednesday April 10th at 4:00 at BR.

Connolly's 14 K's powers BR to 10-3 victory over Durfee.
Sophomore Jack Connolly led the Trojans to victory on Thursday, striking out 14 batters in 6 innings of work, as BR improves to 2-0 on the season. Connolly's off speed pitches kept The Durfee hitters off balance all day, as he only gave up 3 hits.
Andrew Noviello came in to Pitch the 7th and struck out one and induced 2 ground balls to Dave Miller at short stop, and that was that.
The Trojans were down early as Durfee jumped out to an early lead 3-0 in the top of the first inning. The Trojans would score 1 in the bottom of the first on shaky pitching by Durfee with 4 walks.
The Trojans would take the lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a Sophomore Andrew Noviello double that scored Connor Sullivan, and a Joe Freiday 2 rbi single that scored Tyler Glavin and Andrew Noviello.
The bats were silenced until the bottom of the 6th when BR scored 6 runs to seal the deal, as a Joe Freiday single, Corey Dinunno sac fly (scored T Glav), Mike Bruemmel and Pat née RBI's (scored Novi and Freiday), and Adam Chase single (scoring pinch runner Cory Wasylow).
Joe Freiday led the BR offense with 2 hits and 3 RBI's, and Tyler Glavin scored 3 runs..
The Trojans face off against Whitman Hanson (weather permitting) Friday at 4:00 at BR.
Probable starter for BR is Junior Josh Monson.
