The Trojans improved to 14-1 on Thursday afternoon behind a masterful complete game 109 pitch performance by Notre Dame bound Junior Jack Connolly at Hank Pearson Field as the Trojans defeat the Dartmouth Indians.
Coach Kearney summonsed his Ace as the Trojans were in the middle of their busiest week of the season. Connolly looked sharp in the first inning retiring 2 Indians via the K and then the Trojans came to bat in the bottom of the 1st looking to give their ace a cushion and that cushion came in the form of a Joe Freiday 3 run blast to center as he lasered an 0-2 fastball into the trees. Connolly faced the minimum in the 2nd inning despite giving up a walk as he picked off an Indian base runner leaning the wrong way. In the bottom of the second the bats were booming again as Tyler Carey striped one over the center field fence scoring Jonathan Livolsi (single) making the score 5-0. The score remained that way until the bottom of the 5th when Cory Wasylow would triple home Noviello and Freiday, who both singled, and would score on a wild pitch making the score 8-0 and the Trojans rolled to victory.
Jack Connolly on the win "its great pitching with a lead" and "I can always rely on our offense". Connolly improves to 7-1 on the season with an ERA just over 1 and has 61 K's on the season in 41 1/3 innings pitched.
Offensively the Trojans were led by Virginia Tech bound Captain Joe Freiday (2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and his 7th home run of the year), Cory Wasylow (2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's), Jonathan Livolsi (2 for 3), and Tyler Careys 2 run home run (his 4th of the season)
Coach Kearney on the win ""Very solid win - best all-around game we've played in the last week or two ... against a hot team .... need to keep up this level of play going into the tournament"
